Ship’s Log: Smart Glasses Join the Workshop

Another piece of technology has come aboard the Stormy Sailors Maker Lab: a pair of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. The Captain has been looking at ways to capture project work without always holding a phone or camera, and these glasses are a practical starting point for that experiment.

Hands-Free Workshop Possibilities

The plan is to explore first-person recording for maker demonstrations, quick visual documentation and useful everyday assistance. Prescription fitting is part of getting the glasses ready for regular use.

There are practical questions to answer before calling the project operational: how recording works in real workshop conditions, what can be saved or transcribed, how the companion software fits the workflow, and how to respect other people’s privacy when cameras or microphones are in use.

The Ray-Ban Meta glasses are a separate path from the camera-free meeting-glasses idea being considered under Project Black Flag. Different jobs call for different tools.

Status: Hardware acquired; fitting and workflow evaluation are next. No untested integration is being claimed as complete.
