Project Roadmap
Where The Tactical Pirate has sailed, what is being tested, and which waters remain ahead.
The Roadmap records current priorities and longer-term intentions. Planned items are not promises or release dates; hardware limits, testing results, licensing and safety requirements may change their course.
Completed Foundations
- Working firmware foundation for the LILYGO T-Embed CC1101 Plus.
- Stormy Sailors boot identity, brass-and-black palette and Main Deck carousel.
- Original Stormy Sailors interface code layered with adapted Bruce components.
- Native vector carousel icons restored and accepted for clear rendering on the physical 320×170 display.
- Restored and protected Settings route.
- M022 Weapons Department: active testing tools consolidated behind an authorization acknowledgement with an accepted native-vector naval cannon icon.
- Initial microSD storage validation using MBR/FAT32 and the TACTICAL volume.
Currently Testing
- Weapons Department functional checks using owned equipment and explicitly authorized lab targets.
- Settings access, Hide/Show Apps protection and return-to-Main-Deck behaviour.
- Passive Wi-Fi diagnostics, capture storage and log handling.
- IR capture, saved-code testing and compatible television protocols.
Next Priorities
- Refine simplified nautical vector icons for LoRa, FM, Clock, Scripts and remaining secondary screens without sacrificing embedded-display clarity.
- Complete the Back/Main Deck audit so no operational screen traps the user.
- Finish the portal landing page and remove remaining unwanted upstream presentation elements.
- Document verified installation, recovery and clean-build procedures.
- Standardize capture filenames, folders and retention notes.
Planned Hardware
- GPS/BDS: M5Stack U190 module with external SMA antenna.
- Ethernet Deck: PoE-capable ESP32-S3/W5500 wired-diagnostics deck.
- Field power: dependable operation from a 10,000 mAh USB battery pack.
- IR expansion: improved transmitter range and verified receiver performance.
Longer-Term and Experimental
- Embergotchi presentation and passive diagnostic workflow.
- USB-accessible capture storage where the hardware and firmware safely permit it.
- Expanded offline IR code database and assisted protocol identification.
- Additional authorized diagnostic modules assessed individually for legality, safety, usefulness and licence compatibility.
Operating Principle
The Tactical Pirate remains a white-hat tool. Development favours passive observation, clear diagnostics, minimal disruption and use only on equipment, networks and signals owned by the operator or covered by explicit authorization.
